Dx-World just received the following breaking news regarding a long expected and recently postponed DXpedition to Glorioso Island.
According to Glorioso team leaders F5OGL and F5CQ a team of 3 military radio amateurs (maybe 4), along with 2 SIRPA journalists/film-makers (Army Press Service) will be on Glorioso Island from July 9 ’till 28, 2009.

The team of film-makers will shoot various documentaries with a leading idea of introducing the DXpedition itself. The team will be active from 160 to 6m on as many modes as possible.
The callsign is currently confidential, but it will certainly surprise more than one.
There will be 3 stations active which will be attended by the Foreign Legion. Most of the equipment will be lent to the team by F6KOP and F4AJQ. Logs will be online and updated on daily basis.
Operators : F5PRU, F5IRO, F5TLN, and maybe F4EGS or F5RQQ
Team leader and QSL manager : F5OGL
Webmaster : F5CQ
The island occupies a very high 4th place at the DXCC Most Wanted list. Sponsors are welcome.

FRANCE – ?? GLORIEUSES.
As indicated several weeks ago, no civilian will be included in the crew which is going to Gloriosos, next month. It had been confirmed that it will be first a Military mission.
Nothing was possible to make changes in this Forces’ Authorities decision.
Finally the crew is composed of :
F5PRU – Yves Michel
F5RQQ – Jean Marc
F5IRO – Freddy
F4EGS – Philippe
F5TLN ?? Sylvain
Thanks to the Provins ARC, F6KOP loans, three stations will be active; a fourth will be set up and could be used with no particular mode or bands.
Mission permitting, the crew wil appear in the two major July contests, the IARU HF and the RSGB IOTA.
Note that the crew, instead of maintenance jobs, has another assistance mission by the Armies Information and Public Relation group which will go to Glorieuses along. This group is composed of an Officer, a director and a cameraman.
The callsign asked is not known yet, but it is expected in the next days.
