OR4TN is ON5TN’s callsign from the Belgian Princess Elisabeth Station in Antarctica. Karel, ON5TN, is a member of the team who is there on a mission to make the new base operational. That means he is there to work and will be there from around late November 2009 until the end of January 2010.

OR4TN was QRV December 1 for the first time. Karel was on 7008 in CW from 21:30 UTC onwards. Karel says to look for him in the future on 7007 CW or 7077 SSB each time +/- a couple of KHz. 3507 is another possibility.
Operating times: between 2100 and 2300 UTC. He still has a problem with his 30m antenna. 20m is also a possibility but might be difficult for EU in the above time frame.
Keep checking QRZ.com profile for updates.
QSO made yesterday evening with Karel at 21:10z on 40m SSB (7.076 MHz). Noisy band, but signals were nicely readable, and not so many peopole calling (for once :-) )
Thanks for the new one, and enjoy your stay down there !

Hello
Qso On cw with a good signal wednesday evening on 7008.0 Thank you very much for new one!
Best regard’s and happy holiday’s

Beste Karel,
Pol , ON8BV
OR4TN is now QRT. As Karel has been very busy helping preparing (the station) for departure (of the entire team), no more QSOs were added in the log. Final number of QSOs is 1925.
Karel will make a stopover in South Africa and is expected home in Belgium on March 2, 2010. In the mean time the OR4TN log has been received safely in Belgium via email.
