We are all done. The station has been taken down and all equipment has been taken off the island. Except for the footprints, there is no sign left that we were on the island for one month. We are ready to sail tomorrow at 6AM. The weather forecast is favorable and we are hoping to arrive in Australia on Sunday, Dec 06.
Total number of unique QSOs in our data-base is 36,174. We made 3435 unique QSO-s on 160 meters (and a lot more dupes – which we loved just the same).

It was tough on the USA east coast at first but they varied their schedules and band/modes every day so that everyone could have a chance. Their signal was very good on all the bands I had antennas for (long path, too). Their barefoot 40M signal on the last day for the contest was phenomenal. I missed getting a RTTY QSO but life goes on!
These guys were great operators. This was no luxury hotel operation. Turtles crashing into the tent… Swimming out to the boat daily to do log uploads. Awesome job! Thanks for going there.
This duo is FANTASTIC! When DX history is written, these two will have a CHAPTER or so. These guys outshine many, if not most expeditions twice or three times their size. Not to mention the sometimes treacherous trips over many miles in the ocean. I cannot WAIT to see WHERE they will go next! And, by now, with no meat for a couple weeks, I am sure Tomi is ready for a big thick steak when they hit Australia. FANTASTIC Job does not even say it. Congrats Guys, for a Great job WELL DONE!
Gene, I agree with you 100%. Using basic equipment and homemade antennas and their own skills they were able to give out more Qs on more bands than a lot of others who had mega support from deep pocket sources. Congrats and thanks! Bruce W4OV
For my sight is TX3A the most successful lowband expedition 2009.
Amazing strong signals on low bands and sure present every LB opening to EU. The long stay on the island helps that “litte pistols” like me have a real chance for qso. The onlinelog was daily update, that helps vy much to reduce dupe QSO’s. This is not usual for a trip with only 2 operators, on a island without any infrastructure.
great honour for AA7JV & HA7RY
