Anton, ON6NL and Henk, ON4AHF are currently in the Democratic Republic of Congo working with the Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) organisation. They have been there for over two weeks and expect to stay approx five more days. Last week, 9Q0AR/6 had been operating from the South Kivu region of DRC. Since yesterday 9Q0HQ & 9Q0AR have been active from Kinshasa.
Their workload includes setting up repeaters within the DRC and, during last weekend (March 13-14), they set up classes for locals who are very interested to know what Ham Radio is. Each classroom had between 20-25 people learning about our great hobby.
Using wire antennas and an FT-897, look for 9Q0AR and 9Q0HQ (club callsigns) on CW/SSB. QSL both calls via ON6NL.
I hope you guys have proper paperwork made up by PTT in Kinshasa, to present ARRL. PTT in Kinshasa is the only authorities bureau to issue Ham radio license. As after 2005 the 9Q0AR hasn’t been legal because of false paper, made up by the chairman of 9Q0AR radio club
Yes Gus you are correct. My previous QSL was also declared not valid due to the fact the licence was not valid.
9Q0AR currently only counts for DXCC for QSOs from January 1, 2001 through March 28, 2004, reports DXCC Manager NC1L, Bill Moore. Osten (SM5DQC) is confident that Gus will be able to obtain new documentation for the DXCC Desk. Apparently the 9Q0AR license has expired. However due to bureaucracy things are very slow and expensive in the DRC.
The above information was on the Club Log Reflector.
