I have been watching this radio for almost 2 years now, too bad they aren’t going
to sell too many of these at $9000.00 USD. The BS about somewhere in between 5 and 10 K, shame on Kenwood! I went out and purchased the FTDX-5000 a few weeks ago, a fantastic radio for almost 1/2 the price; does everything that I wanted including 2 receivers. I added an LP-Pan2 to the mix. I wanted the new Kenwood for the displays but now that I have the LP-Pan2 I am glad I didn’t wait for the Kenwood.
It would have to be one heck of a radio for 9K!
Now that I have my FTdx-5000 I am glad I didn’t wait.
The FTDX-5000 has everything that I really wanted for $3K less for me to spend on other things for the shack. I hooked up a LP-pan2 to my Yeasu and now have a 24 inch pan adapter, real sweet.
I will say that the 990 looks pretty good but I am happy with what I ended up with.

Actually, the radio sells for under $8k. You should have waited.
