Eritrea – Not Anytime SoonMonday Jan 21, 2013
Reports from Eritrea say a group of soldiers have surrounded the ministry of information building in the capital, Asmara. State TV has also reportedly been taken off air in what some have described as a coup attempt.
The UK Foreign Office said that it had received reports of “unusual military movements in and around Asmara”, and noted that local radio and TV appear to have been shut down.

The Intrepid-DX Group would love to activate Eritrea. Some of our members visited after ST0R and again after 7O6T.
The situation there is very complex and we look for any signs of positive changes.
After this “subliminal” message, for how long all other DX groups should abandon the idea to be active from Eritrea?
It’s an early booking? Valid until?

Dear Simon-IZ7ATN: Personally, I would be very happy to see any group activate Eritrea. It has been so long and everyone needs it.
It is only when a group announces their dates and bookes travel and hotel that I feel their plans should be respected, but to my knowledge no one has done that because permission has not been granted to anyone. We will keep trying from time to time for Eritrea, but we will continue to work on other countries that are more promising. Cio,
I was just looking at why this has not been on the air and the answer is WOW. Good Luck to Paul and Simon. Hope when the dust settles someone can get permission. Still need it any band any mode. for # 330.

wow thankfully I worked E30GA last cycle. Never realized how rare this entity was and the situation there. Good luck in the future. Alot of us thought we would never see 7O on the air either.
It would be nice to work them provided everybody has a chance to work them, and not like 706T! This BS of chancing the rules once a group has paid their absorbent fee and then being told once they are there not to work a specific country is not in the spirit of amateur radio and should not be tolerated!
