Great OPS !
Hope OQRS for VK6FZM/MM come also soon. Thx a lot.
The first QSO costs $7.00 to QSL <—– Nice ham spirit! Letter from USA is a maximum of US$2!
TK5CC, do you never contribute to dxpeditions ?
At 170,000 Qs and $450,000 cost it works out to $2.65usd per QSO, true cost likely higher.
Hopefully everyone will contribute at least that.
Oh, some of that $7 goes to PayPal fees not to forget the good ol’ IRS.
P.S. Good info here:
@N5PG: Everyone con contribut everything he like. But absolutly NO QSL selling! It is a low in ham radio! And by the way, 170k QSO, yes, but just 36k uniques! B.t.w. fron the 7$ goes around 1,2% to paypal!
TK5CC, you are reported as SK on HamCall. You might want to either correct that, or use your own call when complaining.
It is not “QSL selling”. If you don’t care to use the OQRS and it’s $7 fee, they offer the usual alternatives, direct/bureau.
Per their website as regards direct requests:
“USA STATIONS, PLEASE INCLUDE AN APPROPRIATE SIZED SASE WITH APPROPRIATE RETURN POSTAGE. WATCH FOR ANY POSTAL RATE INCREASES (see above). (Extra donations welcome, see #13)
OTHER STATIONS OUTSIDE USA PLEASE INCLUDE SAE AND either $2.00 US or one current IRC minimum (extra donations welcome)”.
Or use the bureau, it’s free to you, you can even request a bureau card via OQRS.
Their qsl info page is here, http://www.amsterdamdx.org/qsl/
if you care to stop griping long enough to read it.
As for myself, I believe they did a pretty good job, and I have no issues kicking in a bit to help with their cost. If I was able to contribute more, I would.
I certainly appreciate the effort they put forth, not to mention the time and money they expended.
Hats off to the team.
Amsterdam 1998 DXPedition … good time has gone !
Thank you for QSOs , great job FT5ZM team member and hope see you again in another Dxpedition at rare entity , 73 de YB9WZJ
FT5ZM. Great to work you with my former call sign and then when the new streamlined call sign became official! Thanks for being there and for the ATNO!
Job well done ! Thanks for bringing us the good DX, and us, the real DX’ers do not have pains to pay the fair for the QSL as we know what effort and costs go into a DXPedition. The wannabe’s will complain and cry, but feel free go look if they even helped with sponsor ? No they did not, they just want the DX but not share the cost.
It is easy if you do want to pay them , don’t work them.
Many thanks guys . a real first class operation from go to woe, and for those who said that it was hard to work without a big beam and amplifier, please note that if could work them on thirteen band spots and using a basic ic718 and a doublet for 160m, then I feel sorry for them.
As the majority of my contacts with then took place when, according to the propagation charts, the path was closed, shows how good the expedition operators where, and I wish that more DXpeditions are as good in the future.
