ET3JD – Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Downtown Addis AbabaJim, WU0I is a US Foreign Service Officer presently stationed in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Through his website, he explains below when ET3JD will be on air:

Formalities for the importation of my amateur radio equipment are wrapping up, and I expect to have the gear, and the permission to use it, completed within 2 weeks. Next will come construction of an antenna and the deployment of my equipment. I expect to be on the air by about October.

Modes I anticipate using include PSK31 and possibly RTTY (for contests mostly), SSB, and CW. My CW is pretty rusty, so please be patient with me! I’m not sure yet which bands I will end up using most, but for sure I will try to get on 40, 20 and 15 meters, plus I would really like to spend more time on the WARC bands — particularly 30 and 17 meters. I will be using home-made wire antennas, and plan to experiment with different designs.
