EZ – Turkmenistan Activity

    • December 4, 2011

EZ7V is very active now in CW and SSB. DXCC apparently accepted some QSLs for contacts in 2010 – Italian stations mention they have received credit in 2010 for EZ7V qso/qsl from ARRL. Today EZ7V is active in 28Mhz cw. The direction of antenna is ok. RW6HS in an email received two days a go says that there are no problems for QSLs. [tnx IK0OZD]

The following is an update [edited for clarity] by Vlad EZ8BP almost six months on:

On this day, things are very bad. Our amateur radio league cannot re-register with the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan due to the fact they now have no legal address. For that reason, the State Inspectorate for Spectrum Communications, Ministry of Turkmenistan refuses to issue permits, and as such, Turkmenistan is off air.

Only two stations have a valid license in Turkmenistan now – Club station EZ7V (Alex is chief) and EZ7AV – Alex’s personal call. There is currently a big problem with antenna restrictions in EZ. Also, Alex uses low power when operating. When asked if he could try RTTY, unfortunately he said no due to lack of equipment. In January 2011, Alex retires and hopes to have more time to collect necessary paperwork to revive ham activty in EZ. (tnx EU7SA)
