Yes, the callsign is correct and South Shetland! The following info was displayed today in the Worldwide Antarctic Program website.

To commemorate the 35th Anniversary of the Italian Explorer Renato Cepparo, a group of Italian students led by Prof. Geol Julius Fabbri from the city of Trieste will leave December 2010 for a “Didactic Project” in the South Shetland Islands following 1976 trip of Renato Cepparo at the first italian Giacomo Bove Camp (WAP ITA-02) set by Cepparo’s Expedition at Italia Valley, Ezcurra inlet, Admiralty Bay on King George island (62° 10′ S, 58° 30′ W).

The plan is to activate the old call I1SR (same as 1976 Cepparo’s Expedition) and placing a commemorative plaque on the same place where Cepparo set the Giacomo Bove Camp and doing some ecological studies, connected to the didactic program of the students.

A website is to be constructed shortly. Gianni I1HYW will also provide more details soon.
