I am approaching my last weeks on Macquarie island. In this time I would like to give as many people as possible that “new oneâ€. Unfortunately there are many operators who are unaware of how to behave in a pile up and behave so badly other amateurs lose the contact opportunity. If you call incessantly, or call when another station or callsign is being requested you will receive a zero by zero report. Hopefully this improves the opportunity of a contact for the polite and sometimes less strong stations.

Due to the sheer volume of requests received, I am unable to respond to emails. If you would like to check your entry in my log please click here.
November 16 – Congratulations to Fred, N0XA in contacting Macquarie Island for his last country on 40m. You can hear the moment below.

November 1 – Message from Derek VK4MIA
Just to let everyone aware that Kevin VK4KEV is now active as VK0KEV from Macquarie Island AN-005. During a local chat last night with Brooke VK4MBL, Kevin broke in and surprised the pair of us! Needless to say we were Kevin’s first 2 contacts on HF from Macquarie and we were more than happy to work him. A collection of VK’s, VE’s, JA’s and also Victor E51CG made the log internationally on Kevin’s first operation.
I am waiting to hear back from Kevin on further information but he is active on 40m at the present time and has plans to erect a 5 band vertical antenna as soon as time permits. As for his operating schedule, that is also something we are waiting to find out in due course. Should any other information come to hand we’ll let you know.

As soon as Kevin has firm shipping dates he will update on planned activity. Presently, he is operating as VK4KEV/VK7, in Hobart, Tasmania whilst undergoing training for his upcoming long stay on Macquarie.
