     January 25th

    The 2011 South Orkney DXpedition is anchored at Signy Island and has begun assembling the camp. We estimate two days will be required to secure our safety and set up stations. Our announced date of 27 January for operations remains intact at this point. [link]

    January 22nd

    We have now been at sea for 32 hours.  We are in the Drake Passage (58° South, 63° West) with a 4 to 5 meter Beam sea..Most of the team has not yet used their “buckets”, but our journey is far from over.

    We’ve seen our first Magellanic Penguins, whales, petrels and albatross. [link]

    January 21st

    At 10:30z, the VP8ORK team departed the dock at Ushuaia.

    The Microlight Penguins are on the move. The whole team is airborne from Tajikistan, Singapore, Canada and the US to Argentina. We meet up tomorrow in LU land. Updates, with images, to follow..
